Keeping your pet healthy requires more than you may think.

  • Sharon will be able to provide a mirco- chipping service to cats and dogs.

Micro-chipping is one of the most effective ways of keeping your pet safe and healthy. Micro-chipping means, if your pet goes missing or runs away, you are far more likely to get them back sooner and with less hassle. The microchip is inserted underneath the skin between the animal's shoulder blades, just below the base of the neck. This is done using a needle, and is similar to your pet having a routine vaccine jab at the vets. It takes 2 minutes and carry's information about your pet that says more than a tag. Wardens, rescue centres and police carry the equipment to read the chips which will tell them everything they need to know to get your pet home safely. However visible tags are still a legal requirement. You can be fined up to £5000 if your dog is not wearing one.

  • Sharon can weigh your pet and offer advice on its diet in order to achieve ideal weights.

Your pet's nutritional needs change with age, and some medical conditions require special diets. Your pet should be on a diet that is suitable for its breed, size, age and weight. Many pet owners will be feeding incorrect diets are will be experiencing problems with feed. Overweight pets can develop further health problems effecting their heart, joints and other organs due to the added stress of being overweight. We have a wide selection of pet food in stock including Hills Science Plan, Royal Canin, Eukanuba and more, plus veterinary diets are also available.

  • Sharon will be able to cut your pets nails to the ideal length.

Keeping your pets nails at a suitable lenght is also very important. It is important to trim your pets nails on a regular basis. This does not have to be a weekly clipping but you should clip them at least one time per month and the more you trim, the more accustomed they will become to it. Overgrown nails can break easily and below the quick, which can be very painful. Long-term overgrowth can cause difficulty with walking, pain and soreness and eventually contribute to the development of arthritis in some pets. Don't worry if your pet doesn't like having their nails clipped, Sharon can use the dremel method- ask for details.

  • Sharon can offer advice about worming your pet and using suitable flea treatments.

Internal worms and external parasites like fleas, ticks and lice can affect your pet at any stage of life but are usually easily treated.Your pet should be kept free of internal and external parasites. Worms can be passed from your dog and infect humans, in young children this can make them very ill. Ticks and lice can also be passed on to other pets or humans. We have Drontal and Panacur wormers available and Frontline Spot-on.
